I am going to have limited Internet access from August 23-27, so please be patient if there are any technical issues with ChristianBlogSites.
My wife and I are going on a well deserved vacation in Eastern Washington and there will be locations where we will not have Internet access.
It is time for us to once again delete inactive blogs on this site.
Inactive means there is only one article on a blog or no articles posted for the last 30 days. So, if you want to keep your blog make sure you have posted within the last 30 days. We do not warn individual blog owners that their blog is going to be deleted.
Also, once again we ask any blog owner to consider making a $5 annual donation to help keep ChristianBlogSites on the Internet. Our costs are always more than any donations we receive. We look forward to the day when we are able to cover costs. This would be possible if every blog user made a $5 annual donation.
Thank you for those who donate.
How Big is Your God?-Summary
The following is a summary of these series of nuggets:
Putting God in a Box
In these nugget we first made it clear that we believe doctrine is important and there are biblical principles to live by. We then discussed the fact that many Christians 'Put God in a box' and that at times this causes unnecessary division among believers. God Almighty is bigger than any box that we can put him in.
How Big is Your God?-Part Six
How Do You See Jesus?
The following was written by Max Lucado. I cannot remember where I read it.
Suppose Jesus came to your church. I don't mean symbolically. I mean visibly. Physically. Actually. Suppose he came to your church.
Would you recognize him? It might be difficult. Jesus didn't wear religious clothes in his day. Doubtful that he would wear them in ours. If he came today to your church, he'd wear regular clothes. Nothing fancy, just a jacket and shoes and a tie. Maybe a tie. . .maybe not.
How Big is Your God?-Part Five
Who Can Be Used By God?
Does God only use righteous, holy people, or is God Big Enough to use people who you and I believe fall short?
Before we speak on this subject I want to make our position clear in regards holiness. We absolutely believe that God calls every Christian to walk in purity and holiness. He is coming back for a beautiful bride, not a dirty tramp that thinks she can do whatever she wants and who enjoys "playing the field". As Christians we are given the power to have victory over sin and to reflect the character of Jesus. We also believe that you should be careful who you allow to minister to other people.
How Big is Your God? Part Four
Non Essentials
Please remember to read Previous Nuggets on this topic if you are just now joining our mailing list.
What a person believes on the following doctrines does not determine if they are a follower of Jesus Christ. And we should not let these doctrines prevent us from having fellowship with those who believe different than us.
State of the Dead: Many Christians believe when a person dies, they go straight to hell or to heaven. Other Christians believe that the dead 'sleep' until Jesus returns.
How Big is Your God?-Part Three
Agree to Disagree
Once again I want to make it clear that I believe correct biblical doctrine is important. There are doctrines that we feel very strong about and would stand up for them even if everyone else disagreed. However, individuals or churches can use doctrine to cause unnecessary division, or they become prideful and give the appearance of 'holier than thou'. An overemphasis on doctrine can "Put God in a Box" that He does not belong in.
Richard Baxter a Puritan preacher in the 1600's is attributed in making the following statement. But most likey it was Augustine: "In necessary things, unity; in doubtful things, liberty; in all things, charity." It could be restated as "Unity on the essentials, freedom on the nonessentials, and love in all things."
